My name is Dawn Marie Skerski and I live in beautiful Northern Michigan. I'm a wife, mother of two young adult daughters, and a middle school/high school teacher at Rogers City Area Schools. About five years ago, I received my first DSLR as a Christmas present from my husband and began learning how to use it as a hobby. Soon after, I was taking hundreds and hundreds of pictures of my daughters (figure skating and dancing) and my nieces (fast-pitch softball and basketball). I discovered very quickly that my hobby had developed into a passion. That passion continues to grow every day. Currently, I am focusing on sports photography, senior portraits, and family portraits.  I am filled with joy when my camera is in my hand, but even more so when I see and hear students' expressions when they've seen a photo of themselves capturing them doing what gives THEM joy....or the tears of a mom or dad when they see the personality of their child pop off the screen.  For me, it's the thrill of being in the moment, capturing the moment, uploading the pictures to the computer, scrolling through hundreds of pictures, and finding those gems that make you feel like you just scored a touchdown or shot the winning basket at the sound of the buzzer....photography is my sport!
